I’m smitten with this piece and it serves as such a gorgeous model to follow your guidance around what Strange Pilgrims is looking for in stories. This is a story that many well-meaning workshops would deflate.
Thank you Marjee for the read and your thoughtfulness. Strangely enough, this was the product of bringing a poem into a fiction workshop! So I’m very thankful for strange pilgrims to have published this hybrid baby. Much love 🤍
love this piece Aimee! and I'm laughing because our answers to Karan's question about writing routine were so similar! helps to know I'm not alone. the fire hydrant moment is *~real~*
oh my gosh, yay! thank you for leaving a comment! I got super excited over your photo essay and loved seeing that form. & yes exactly. when the fire hydrant moment hits I’m like, is this just how it works?? and if so, WHY
"as if called by the strike of a gong, there was a knock at my door, and I acted like it wasn’t unusual for it to be you" the shift to second person here made my breath catch. so beautiful. loved the ending and the journey this story took us on.
This is so beautiful! I love the fuzzy time feel of the piece where time just seems to blend as the person struggles with their existential questions. They're searching and searching and in this search, time becomes fuzzy. It was such a beautiful read!
thank you Strange Pilgrims for believing in my work 🤍🤍
We love you Aimee!!
