This was a really fun read, I love the fairytale/fable style.
I imagine that occasionally the hermit would write down a weird idea that occurred to him, like „what if there lived fish in the deep sea that carry their own light around?“ and then he would marvel at the weirdness of human imagination
What a fun read. I specifically like how there were multiple opportunities for satisfactory endings, and yet it kept going. Almost a nod to absurdism, without an actual moral or satisfying of a particular goal or point.
This is delightful. "Amazing and heartwarming" as Dario says below, though I also note a bit of bite, as if it could be worked into Sondheim's "Into the Woods." Bravo!
