Hello fellow strange pilgrims,

We don’t need too much of an excuse to celebrate Leonard Cohen, but today is good as any. It is his death anniversary, so of course we’re celebrating his life. Below are a few of our favorite Leonard Cohen moments (which is extremely difficult if you know us even a little).

And also, as a reminder, today is the last day to submit to the official $3500 Leonard Cohen Poetry Prize. Whether you think yourself a poet or a prose-writer or not a writer at all or somewhere, anywhere in between, we (through our sister-mag ONLY POEMS) are searching for the best poems on the intersections of love, faith & sex by 11 writers, one of whom will win the grand prize and 10 more who will place for the one and only Leonard Cohen Poetry Prize! The official deadline is tonight (midnight, Montreal time).

“...for me, art is the evidence of a life, and not the life itself. It's the ashes of something that has burned very well... and sometimes we confuse ourselves, and we try to create the ashes, instead of the fire.”
